The Best Thing You Can Add to Your Hudson Valley Group Getaway? A Massage That Comes to the House.

July 23, 2026

Here's a pattern I've watched play out for years: a group rents a beautiful house in the Hudson Valley — a bachelorette weekend, a girls' trip, a milestone birthday, a family reunion — and somewhere in the planning, someone says, “we should all get massages.”

Then they look into it. Six people. One spa, forty minutes away, that can maybe take two of them at 11 and two at 3. Cars to coordinate. Half the day gone. The idea quietly dies in the group chat.

It doesn't have to. The spa can come to the house.

How it works

I bring everything — professional table, fresh linens, oils, music — and set up right in the rental. A quiet bedroom becomes the treatment room. Then your group simply rotates through: each person takes their session while everyone else keeps enjoying the pool, the fire pit, the charcuterie board, the weekend.

Nobody drives anywhere. Nobody's herding six people into cars on a Saturday. The massage becomes part of the day at the house instead of an interruption to it — which, if we're honest, is the entire reason you rented a house in the first place.

For larger groups, we staff additional licensed therapists so the day flows comfortably and no one's waiting hours for their turn.

Why this fits the Hudson Valley weekend so well

The whole point of coming up here is to slow down — the views, the quiet, the “we're not in the city anymore” exhale. A massage in the middle of that, in the house you're already relaxed in, hits differently than one squeezed into a spa appointment. Your group is in comfortable clothes, a glass of wine is nearby, and the person who just finished their session gets to melt onto the couch instead of into a car.

It's also the easiest gift a group can give itself. Split among friends, an afternoon of massages costs about what one more group dinner out would — and it's the part of the weekend everyone talks about after.

And while the Hudson Valley is where I see this most — it's home turf, and where most of my group bookings come from — the same setup travels just as easily to a lake house in the Catskills, a share house on the Jersey Shore, or wherever your group's weekend lands. If there's a quiet room, there's a treatment room.

The occasions I see most

Bachelorette parties (the day-before-the-festivities session is a tradition for a reason). Girls' weekends. Wedding weekends — the couple, the parents, the wedding party. Family reunions where three generations are under one roof. Corporate retreats and team offsites. Birthday and anniversary trips. And more and more often, hosts who simply want to make their guests' stay unforgettable.

A few practical notes from someone who's done a lot of these

Book ahead. Summer and fall Saturdays in the Hudson Valley fill quickly — once your rental dates are locked, that's the time to reach out.

Everything is included. For group bookings, gratuity is built into the rate — one number, nothing to sort out or split awkwardly at the end of a relaxing day.

Any house works. I've set up in farmhouses, lake houses, barns-turned-villas, and modern builds tucked into the woods. All we need is a quiet room and a little floor space.

Mixed preferences are fine. Some of your group wants deep tissue, some want full relaxation, someone's never had a massage before — every session is tailored to the person on the table

People throw the term "deep tissue massage" around like everyone agrees on what it means. They don't. Half the people who ask me for deep tissue actually want firm pressure on a relaxing massage. The other half want me to dig into a specific problem that's been bothering them for months. Those are two different sessions, and after 22 years of doing this work in people's homes across New York, I've learned to figure out which one you actually need before I start. So let me explain what deep tissue massage really is, what it isn't, and who it's actually for.
